The
Captain John Kendrick Maritime Museum (circa
1745)

Open for tours July & August
House purchased by Captain John Kendrick in 1778. Kendrick
lead an expedition to China in 1787 and opened up the lucrative
China Trade for tea, silks and ceramics. He was also the
first American to attempt trade with Japan. The museum contains
furnishings from the 18th and 19th century, textiles, costumes,
Maritime paintings, and a model of the schooner "Ernestina",
which served as a packet ship for many years sailing between
the U.S. and Cape Verdean islands.

The
Fearing Tavern Museum (circa 1690)

One of Wareham's earliest homes became the Fearing Tavern
circa 1747, with additions added in 1765 and 1820. Remained
in the Fearing family for 200 years. Sixteen period rooms
contain authentic 18th and 19th century furnishings, toys,
tools, and many decorative and useful objects.

Moved in late 1800s from Tihonet Road. Now used by the Wareham
Historical Society for meetings.
